Potential Lawsuit

Here is a story about Texas A&M being upset about the Seahawks using the 12th Man. Kyle field has a tradition of being home of the 12th man for many years, and A&M even trademarked the term in 1990. The Seahawks have a legal leg to stand on here since they have been using the phrase since 1984 when they retired the number 12 in honor of the fans. I think this will go away, maybe ending in an agreement not to sell anything saying “12th Man”, but the flag and 12 Fan jersey’s will stick around. I would be curious to get Jacob Green’s feeling on this. He is an A&M alum and his thoughts would not be biased (I don’t think) either way.

Cowbell

Bill Simmons, in his Cowbell article, talks about a few relavent topics for this site. The first one involes the Boston-Minnesota trade yesterday. (allegedly we have a Minnesota fan or two here) The second topic related here is at the bottom of the page, item #3. I have been feeling the same way, and with others with whom I have spoken also feel the same.

The O.C.

Last night, Kaitlin turned 15, and she made her feelings known that she wanted Johnny. Do not know if she really likes him, or is doing this to make her older sister Marissa jealous. Julie forgot her daughters birthday, so to make it up to her, she threw Kaitlin a Party at Dr. Roberts house, complete with a nice pool. Sandy was busy trying to sell his plan to the Hopital board about building a new Hospital to serve all of Orange County. His bid was successful, but he was not happy with himself since he had to resort to the schmoozing that he wanted to avoid. Seth and Summer both had interviews with Brown. Summer aced hers, but Seth started to discount the idea of going to the East Coast and got nervous. So of course he decided to start puffing the reefer. He did not even go to his interview because he was high, but lied to Summer and said it went well. I think she may find out the truth soon enough.

SB in the North

I was reading this article about choosing a site for the Super Bowl. It brought back memories of NFL officials saying building this new stadium would be a huge step in getting Seattle to Host a Super Bowl in the future. I remember thinking that there was no way the NFL wants poor weather to possibly effect the outcome of the game. With no roof, quest field will not be hosting the big game anytime soon. The only way that changes is if they give the game to NY and it is played outdoors at the meadowlands, then all bets are off. Don’t get me wrong, I think Qwest field is Great, but many things need to happen before the Super Bowl comes to Seattle. We all know that, but it is still nice to think about every now and then.
Go Seahawks!

The O.C.

We all knew it was coming, so no real surprises here, but Kaitlin Cooper returned to the OC last night from boarding school. And she returned with some baggage. Before she left, whe swiped $1500 from a frat party to pay for her trip back, and then lied about it when they tracked her down. She ends up giving it back, but not before her sister Marissa learns a little bit about what her sister is now like. Kaitlin also met Johnny and really started to hit on him, though I do not know if she likes him, or just doing this to upset her older sister. Kirsten and Julie started up their new business together and the first couple the set up were Dr. Roberts and Veronica Townsend, much to Taylor Townsends delight, and Summer Roberts disaproval. In the up coming weeks, we could be seeing some real action. Kaitlin and Johnny are an interesting subplot, and Kaitlin herself seems to be a chip off the old block and have the same moral code as her mother Julie.

Funny Stories

Here are a couple of links that hopefully bring a smile to your face and pass that time as we count down 72 hours until kickoff. This first one I find very funny, and has made me think of doing the same thing for me, if for no other reason then it would kill about an hour of time. Also like to point out that I hate Video Games. This second one is a quick read, and who among us has not felt this way at some time? Straight and to the point.

blown call

The NFL has said that the Refs made the wrong call on the Troy Palamalu interception during the Steelers/Colts game. Anybody watching the game could have told you that, he clearly had the ball and rolled over twice with the ball in his hands. The fact that they had it right on the field and then overturned it after replay is horrible. One does have to wonder, does the NFL admit it was a bad call if the Colts go on to win that game?

shocking

In the letter to the editor of ESPN.com regarding a story published monday (There is a link to the story in the story I have linked here) Oregon is not happy with the suggestion that Phil Knight is involved in decesions involving the school. Is anybody else surprised that the President of a public university is appalled at the very thought of a large donor having influence over the school. Don’t get me wrong, I would love for Paul Allen to be pumping money back to WAZZU the same way phil does for Oregon, and if that meant he had his say in the hirings and firings, so be it. But don’t be stupid and have the President (or Dean) say his opinion does not matter. (Is Rawlins even smart enough not to do that? Viking I am talking to you) To think that Belotti or Ernie Kent would be fired without Knights approval is laughable. Again, it does not bother me that big donors are buying influence, it bothers my that schools lie and say donations and influence do not go hand in hand.

The O.C.

After a short holiday break, NWSports official show is back with a new episode. And boy was it a good one. Ryan, Seth and Summer come up with a plan to get Marissa back in school for the last semester. Marissa does not want to go since she thinks she would be abandoning Johnny, who just got informed he will not be on the traveling surf team. Johnny and Chili come up with a plan to convince her to go, and she buys it. Meanwhile, back at Harbor High, the fight to get Marissa back in hits a rough spot when Taylor’s mom, (who you all will remember lead the effort to get Marissa kicked out) forbids her daughter to help get Marissa back in. Sandy comes to the rescue and argues on her behalf to the head of the board, who happens to be a judge whom Sandy has argued before in the past. Julie Cooper came clean to her daughter after the victory about her living situation, and there seems to be something going on with her and Dr. Roberts (Summer’s Dad). Also, Marissa’s sister comes back from boarding school next week, and I will link a photo in my recap.

story photo

Check out this picture from the Ray Allen scuffle at last nights Sonics game. Look over Doolings left shoulder. I was not in my seat for the action, but was standing about four feet away from Grant Hill on the Magics bench. Once the fight started I hustled across the baseline and got back to my seat for the aftermath. Very cool stuff. Best time I have ever had at an NBA game.
